Prepare your cargo details

A consistent set of measurements makes your first estimate easier to compare and your next conversation more productive.

Measure the shipment as it will travel

Use the outside dimensions of the packed unit, including its packaging or pallet. Weigh the packed unit rather than the product alone. Cargo.it uses kilograms and centimetres.

Keep units consistent

The calculator applies the same measurements to each unit in one search. Two identical boxes can share one search. Boxes of different sizes need separate searches, then a combined quote from the provider.

Describe more than the dimensions

Prepare a plain description of the goods and their packaging. Tell the provider about anything fragile, unusually shaped or needing special handling. General calculator estimates do not validate acceptance of special cargo.

Prepare a handoff note

Use the checklist in Tools to collect your route, packed measurements, target dates and handling questions. It is a planning aid; your chosen provider will confirm the information needed for a full quote.

This guide explains the Cargo.it planning workflow. Confirm your shipment-specific service and requirements with your chosen provider.
